Why get rental reimbursement coverage?

A low-cost product available through your auto insurance provider, it pays for the cost of a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired after an accident.

A recent study found that 59% of eligible policyholders do not have rental reimbursement coverage. Meanwhile, nearly half or more of those without coverage who filed a claim still rented a vehicle.*

Rental reimbursement coverage is widely available and offered by most major auto insurance companies, but it’s often an additional option that gets overlooked.

Did you know you can add the coverage at any time, not just at renewal? And it’s surprisingly affordable: an entire year’s worth of rental reimbursement coverage typically costs about the same as renting a car for just one day.

Rental coverage allows you to maintain your routine after an accident.

After an accident, you have a few options to cover your rental car expenses with Enterprise Rent-a-Car:

• If your insurance policy includes "loss of use" coverage, it can assist in covering your rental costs, typically up to daily and total policy limits.
• If you're not at fault in the accident, you can discuss your rental needs with the insurance adjuster, who can advise you on whether the claim includes rental coverage.
• If you can provide documentation of the accident, proof of insurance, and are not filing a claim, you may be eligible for our lower insurance rates, allowing you to enjoy savings while still adhering to standard rental qualifications.

Your Policy: If your policy includes loss of use, rental costs can be covered. Most policies cover up to a daily and total policy limit.

Other Driver's Policy: If you were not at fault in the accident, discuss your rental needs with the adjuster. They can advise if the claim covers a rental.

We are able to offer you our lower insurance rates if you have documentation that you had an accident, are insured, and are not filing a claim. You would be able to take advantage of these lower rates. Normal rental qualifications will apply.

Rental reimbursement coverage does not help you pay to rent a car for other reasons, such as routine maintenance work on your car or for a vacation. Policies vary by insurance company and state. Refer to your own auto insurance agent for details on your coverage.

Rental coverage options vary by insurance company and policy. Most policies cover a daily amount up to a limited number of days or dollars. If the daily amount is flat (eg $40), any vehicle you select under that should include the rate and tax of the rental car if you want to avoid paying part of the rental. For example a $40/1200 policy would cover rate and tax on a rental up to $40 a day for up to $1200. Enterprise has special rates for insurance partners which vary by market.
